Principal's Message

Welcome to Caldwell Middle School!

I’m Shaunna Savage and I am very excited to join the staff and students here at Caldwell Middle School.  I began my career 21 years ago teaching special education at the high school level. During my 11 years in the classroom, I taught resource , adaptive behavior and content mastery.  I moved into administration as the Assistant Principal at Caldwell Intermediate for 6 year and as the Principal for the last 4 years.

I truly believe children are our future.  They are future leaders and citizens of our own community and beyond.  As educators, we have an amazing opportunity to make an impact on the lives of students everyday.  We teach academics to prepare them for their future, cheer for them when they are successful, hug them when life is hard and listen when they think that “no one” cares.  We know that “To teach a child, you teach the Soul”.

The staff at Caldwell Middle School is devoted to providing positive, educational opportunities for our students as well extracurricular opportunities.  Academically, our teachers strive to provide lessons that are both challenging and engaging. We offer advanced courses in reading, writing and math. Additionally, we strive to grow our students with electives courses that encourage creativity and exposure to the technology needs of today.  These courses include LeadWorthy, Photoshop, Photojournalism, Journalism, Career Investigations, Speech, Health, Horticulture and Desktop Publishing. At CMS, we encourage our students to participate in UIL events and clubs. We offer football, volleyball, basketball, cross country, tennis, golf, track, concert band,  cheerleading and UIL Academic events. In addition, we have several clubs our students may choose to join such as Beta Club, FCA, Leo Club, Student Council, Student Ambassador Program and NJHS. We believe teaching our students to give back to their community is equally important. Therefore, our students have the opportunity to participate in the Big Event , a community service project, each year.  Aristotle stated, “ “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” We believe in educating the mind, soul and heart of our students.

I look forward to a great year!
